SUG: Students Are Being Extorted And Exploited!

Following the article that was published last week informing all students about the broadcast released by SUG to suspend payment of some dues, a meeting was held March 1st, 2018 at the Students Union building in which the body claimed that students are being extorted & exploited through high amount of these dues and in respect to this, SUG laid emphasis on the order that all payment of dues (indigenous, departmental, faculty and association) should be suspended until further notice stating that any student that makes any payment without notification from the Students Union Government is on his or her own.

The Students Union Government of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has ordered students to stop payments of indigenous, departmental, faculty and association dues.

In a meeting held by the Student Union Executives today Thursday, 1st of March 2018, at the Students Union building located at north campus, the body laid emphasis on the order released a week ago that all payments/dues should be suspended until further notice.

[adinserter name=”Block 3″][adinserter name=”Block 2″]In same vein, the union has ordered students to stop payment of dues and purchase of neck-mesh and hand-band until a communiqué concerning it is later released by the Students Union Government.

According to the report gathered by our correspondent, the Students Union Government claimed that students are being extorted and exploited, due to the high amount of these dues. In the words of one of the Union executives, “Some faculties collect as much as three thousand and five hundred naira(#3,500) and little or nothing is being done for students“.

However, they made it clear that this action is to regulate these payments and vis-a-vis ending students being extorted.

Above all, any student that makes any payment without notification from the Students Union Government is on his or her own.
