TUITION FEE VIS-A-VIS REGISTRATION

  • ==> Students’ Representative Council should lead by example by paying their school fees and also educate the students populace in order to avoid challenge of studentship/registration and result computation.
  • ==> The idea to improve registration procedure was noted through which students after payment of acceptance fee and school fee would access eligibility profile online where all fees payable would be stated. As soon as the fees are paid students would be able to print their course forms.
  • ==> The issue to consider students to sit examination without payment of school fee was noted to be an abnormality. It was decided that Management could not give any promise on this but may look into the matter.
  • ==> Management assured the Students’ Representative Council that she will look into the matter of newly admitted Higher National Students whose National Diploma results were reported not ready. They were charged to give details of the Department(s)

INTERSWITCH CHARGE

It was noted that interswitch charges is purely Bank matter. The Bursar was to assist in mediating in the matter for possible reduction which could not be guaranteed by Management.

HEALTH CENTRE

  • ==> Management will look into and correct non-availability and dispensing of drugs after 4.00 p.m.
  • ==> Medical Fee: The issue of medical fee on portal of stale students would be looked with a view to expunging it so that they could conclude registration.
  • ==> Management frowns at collection of indigenous Association fees as prerequisite for medical registration and decided to look into it.

HOSTEL FEE FOR 2016/2017 VIS-A-VIS REGISTRATION

  • ==> It was noted that there are different individual issues and that some did not pay the one thousand penalty that the 2016/2017 Senate Representative Council appealed that students should pay as waiver. It might be the non-payment is the reason for registration challenge that some stale students are having. Such cases could be referred to students’ Affairs.
  • ==>Meeting noted that every session, Management allocates fund for the renovation of halls of residence. Renovation work would soon commence at Orisun hall. Management has some financial challenge to do all necessary renovation in all halls.

STUDENTS VIS-A-VIS LECTURE ROOMS

  • ==>It was noted that many people milling round have not paid fees, some are occasional candidates who had done another JAMB because the Institution is situated in the metropolitan centre
  • ==>Students’ Representative Council are advised to be weary and careful of Aluta crisis because many non-stakeholders would hijack it.
  • ==> It was reported that the Management is fixing fans in some classroom to help resolve issue.
  • ==>That behind the building by the Conference Centre, Management is about building about two three classes where practical/Technical/Studio work/Lecture theater would be done Architecture and Engineering students.

SECURITY CHALLENGES

Management reiterated it zero tolerance on security breaches from any student/quarter (members of students’ forum inclusive). Anybody reported to have been found wanting would face the Students Disciplinary Committee and expelled if found guilty.

CENTRE FOR PRELIMINARY STUDIES AND ALLIED PROGRAMMES

The meeting discarded as not true, the allegation of collection of money above the charged fees by Centre for Preliminary Studies and Allied Programmes. Members of Students’ Representative Council were advised to have evidence and not to be involved in peddling rumours.
