No Going Back On The Election Date

In a stakeholder meeting held at the Old Board of Studies room, former Rector’s office on the 7th September 2018, the election date remains unchanged after several deliberations.

The major reason for reconsidering the date was as a result of various rancour on campus (especially the recent attack on one of the aspirant’s campaign team the previous day). The Dean Students’ Affairs who chaired the meeting, in his words asserted that “any student found culpable in violence during campaign stands disqualified”. He further said all aspirants would be held for any misconduct during the campaign.

Whether to or not to postpone the election was next for deliberation and after several opinions were raised by representatives from all the faculties in the institution; Senator Adeleke Akinade (Faculty of Financial Management Studies), Oyedokun Clement (Faculty of Business and Communications Studies), Soliu Hammed (Presidential Aspirant), Taiwo Olushoila, Igiri Michael, it became realistic that the election should be held on the already proposed date, 12th September 2018, provided there are adequate security measures put in place. [adinserter name=”Block 3″][adinserter name=”Block 2″]

Dr. T. A. Lasisi (DSA), in his response to the issue of security instructed the students to firstly, be security conscious and alerted, “security begins with us”. However, the management of the institution has put in place four different security outfits to be on guard on the election day.

The Dean also warned that students are expected to come along with their identity cards when coming inside the school on that day for check on the point of entry.

Furthermore, Mrs. Fawale (Deputy Registrar Students Affairs) warned rumour-mongers on election day to desist from their acts this time as all criteria should be met and that “irresponsible student” will not be allowed to vote (immoral dressing inclusive).

One of the outgoing Students Union Executives, Com. Shekoni (Auditor) urged the aspirants that “this election is not a do or die affair”, the peaceful conduct of the election lies mostly in the hands of the students.

Earlier on Thursday evening, the Students’ Union Government shut down the operation of the cab drivers on campus after one of the operators was alleged to have refused to convey them down into the school with an injured student on their way back from Sango Police Station. The Dean however, pleaded on behalf of the operators to the Students Union Government that they should be allowed to continue their operations on campus. The students obliged to this plea.

The meeting had in attendance officers from the Students’ Affairs department, Dr. T.A Lasisi (Dean Students’ Affairs), Mrs Fawale (Deputy Registrar Students’ Affairs), Mrs. Ayoade, Mrs Adegbuyi (Counsellor). Also present were the aspirants, representatives from all the five faculties, departments, the Students’ Union Executives and legislators, and the gentlemen of the Press.

  1. Maximum security is what we pray for management pls do something

  2. Please let the security should be tight especially at North campus… There is unity at south campus and we have only one candidate each for each post not like North campus which they are many…

  3. Let there be maximum security tomorrow so that students can come out massively to vote
