FIBSU Election Ends Unsatisfactorily

Members of the Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union on the 3rd of October, 2018 expressed their grievances over the just concluded election of the Union.

Representatives of the Union copied the Press Council in a letter in which the reasons for the unsatisfactoriness over the electoral process were clearly stated. According to the letter, a total vote of Four Hundred and Eighty-two (482) was counted. The break down for the votes include:

  • Adedoja Abdulahi – 49
  • Akadri Hammed – 82
  • Aremu – 319 (Presidential Aspirants)
  • void – 32.

The flaws for the election are:

  1. Accreditation: Non-member of the association took part in the election process.
  2. Non-constitutional competent: Some aspirants including the said president did not meet the attendant requirement by the constitution.
  3. Illegal disbursement of receipt on Election day to favour some aspirants.

The representatives is thereby seeking the help of various concerned angles to help see into the matter before the decision to create another faction is effected. [adinserter name=”Block 3″][adinserter name=”Block 2″]

“We implore you to intervene into this matter with time. We shall be looking up to your favourable consideration as we are about to create a faction and form another association to satisfy and protect our fellow students’ rights…”

However, the letter was also copied to the Union Advisers, FIBSU Electoral Committee, Executive Council, National Executive Council and the Chief Security Officer.
