What You Need To Know About The New 4.0 Grade Point

It’s no more news that PolyIBADAN is now using 4.0 Grade Point but ever since the announcement, we’ve been getting lot of mails from students asking whether the new Grade Point is for the freshers only or Stalites are included. Also, what the grade point for each score with be.

We have now decided to publish this post to provide answers to the above questions.

QUES: Will the new Grade Point be adopted for current Stalites or just for Freshers?

ANS: Former 5.0 Grade Point will be used for the Stalites which means the new 4.0 Grade Point will be adopted for freshers (2018/2019 Session) [adinserter name=”Block 3″][adinserter name=”Block 2″]

Ques: What will be grade point for each score i.e 40-44, 45-49…?

ANS: The grade for each score is –

75 – 100 ==> 4.0
70 – 74 ==> 3.5
65 – 69 ==> 3.25
60 – 64 ==> 3.0
55 – 59 ==> 2.75
50 – 54 ==> 2.5
45 – 49 ==> 2.25
40 – 44 ==> 2.0
0 – 39 ==> 0


Distinction ==> 3.5 – 4.0
Upper credit ==> 3.0 – 3.49
Lower credit ==> 2.5 – 2.99
Pass ==> 2.0 – 2.49
Fail ==> 0.0 – 1.99

  6. I don’t really see any benefit from the new cgpa…most students score low marks.. please I think the old one is preferable
