The Statement “We Got Time”

One of my favourite lines in the movie “The Hate U Give” which is “We got time” got me thinking really, if we actually “got” time? Maybe because the writer practically wanted to show the irony of “How much time we don’t actually have” that we think we have – when the speaker of the statement got killed not long after he made the statement – or because in the last few weeks I have come to the reality that we really do not have time.

I have seen and heard about people I thought had time, die so soon. I have seen and heard of relationships that I thought had time, END. Being young doesn’t give us time, being old doesn’t mean our time is up; I have simply come to understand that – Time is an illusion after all.

Do we really have time? In the thought that we do, we leave a lot of things undone till next time, we push a lot of things that matter to just another time that we think it’s perfect, we tell ourselves, “We got time”. That we got time to tell the people we love that we love them, that we got time to actually show we care, we got time to actually try out that new concept, we got time to actually begin to live for ourselves, our dreams.

“Everybody dies but not everybody lives” is a lyric Drake used in the song “Moment for life” that got stuck in my mind. Are you living in the now, or you are waiting for time to begin to live? A time no one is assured of… a time we might not see… a time that just might not find its way to our doors. [adinserter name=”Block 3″][adinserter name=”Block 2″]

Truth is, there’s really no time, we make time! No time is perfect we make it perfect. There is no time to not express how we feel, no time to wait till another time before doing the things we love, no time to actually wait to be happy, we make the time now and we take it one second at a time.
When we begin to understand that “We may delay but time will not”, when we begin to face the harsh reality that nobody is sure of tomorrow then we begin to live. Now is all the time we have left, to use this time to make a life impactful, making our little changes in our environment, falling in love, acting in love and spreading love to as many people as we can and as much as we can, making the ones that matter know that they do. So, in the end, when our time is up we know we lived and we made something out of life.

We need to sit and create a world of ours setting the time to the “NOW o’clock”. A now o’clock is the time it says to walk with our dreams in works, to try out that new idea, to take the huge step we have been waiting for time to take, to spend our time with ones that we love, to create the life we have been wanting.

“The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it”- W. M. lewis
